We were contacted by an elderly couple who had a dream of buying and renovating a house next to their daughter. The couple approached us to help with both the design and build aspect of their home to achieve their vision of modernising their home within their budget.

The large four bedroom home was extremely dated and required a complete refurbishment to achieve the modernisation the couple were hoping for. Initially, it was felt that the house could never be exactly what was needed due to it’s original design.  However, we worked with an innovative architect and came up with a new design, changing the whole hall, stairs and landing arrangement to incorporate a new lift as well as opening up everything to give a much more modern feel to the house. 

Once the couple were happy with the designs, we set up a WhatsApp chat with our management team and the customers for daily communication and to control the day to day requirements. We understand that with residential builds, it is the clients dream we are working to achieve, so consistent communication and photographs are essential to achieving the goal. With the clients being an elderly couple, photographs were essential to reduce the number of site visits.

As the property was old and dated, when the roof works started a lot of hidden rot was found in the rafter ends. This was quickly dealt with and replaced with new treated timber. There were a lot of variations to the original scheme but these were dealt with quickly in the most cost effective means, using savings we found elsewhere to help fund the extras. This included recycling all the demolition works hardcore to fill in the old swimming pool rather than the costly expense of bringing in new materials.

We handled everything from strip out to carpets and despite the variations, the project completed on time. The works were carried out over a period of five months and completed on time, for a very happy client to move in by a specific date, as agreed early on in the project.

The elderly couple were delighted with the outcome.
