NESO, Wokingham
Selo Construction were employed to work alongside Jarrards Electrical and the Ultra secure site of NESO (National Energy System Operator), previously owned by National Grid. NESO is responsible for planning and operating the UK’s entire energy system, both electricity and Gas. Selo Construction were responsible for all the delicate groundworks in the replacement of over 90 lighting bollards throughout the site. The bollards were replaced with modern LED fittings and this involved new concrete bases, ducting and trenching through both soft and hard landscaping.
There was also a specific requirement to do some long trenching to replace some 6-metre-high lighting columns. The initial instruction from the client was to use an EXVAC lorry (Vacuum Excavation) to do the trenching due to the sensitive underground services. However, this was deemed not possible and Selo Construction carried out the work by hand very successfully and made good to the hard landscaping upon completion. The works were controlled by CBRE on behalf of the client and SELO Construction built up a good working relationship and completed the works without any requirement for snagging.
